Speaker Series Webinar: What Some Estate Planners Overlook
September 23 @ 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm EDT
Webinar Description
Every estate planning client is different. One example is Client A, who doesn’t question the need to complete a detailed intake form that asks multiple questions about her assets, her health, and the lives of her children and other family members, compared with Client B, who sees estate planning as something easy that shouldn’t require providing so much information: “Here are the names of my family members and what I want. Please just write up my simple Will and Power of Attorney.”
What Client B may not understand is the importance of the requested information in completing a well-rounded estate plan. Many attorneys can skip asking some of the more probing questions in order to move the engagement forward, but that may not cover all of the issues that the client doesn’t realize they should address. Those missed issues are often spotted only after the client or a family member dies, and sometimes it’s too late.

This webinar is designed to highlight issues that estate planners can easily overlook and provide ideas to educate clients on the importance of what may seem like irrelevant questions. We’ll cover non-probate assets, fiduciary selection, potential beneficiary issues, unique assets, tax matters, and trust funding. Handouts will include sample language designed to both educate clients and potential clients about the importance of various issues and protect the attorney in situations where the client decides not to address those issues.
Join us for a conversation about issues that planners shouldn’t overlook, and how to raise them with clients in a way that provides competent representation and the most complete estate plan possible
